What You'll Actually Need
Before you jump in, let's talk hardware, software, and connection speeds. Nothing fancy—just what works for our learning platform in 2025.
Your Device
Most laptops or desktops from the past five years handle our platform fine. You don't need the latest model.
- Minimum 8GB RAM
- Windows 10+, macOS 10.14+, or modern Linux
- Updated browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
Internet Connection
Stable beats fast. We've tested on typical Australian home broadband—no NBN 1000 required.
- 10 Mbps download minimum
- 5 Mbps upload for live sessions
- Mobile hotspot works in a pinch
Audio & Video
Built-in webcam and speakers work. Headphones help during group sessions—neighbours appreciate it.
- Webcam (720p or better)
- Microphone (built-in is okay)
- Headphones recommended
Why We Care About This
Look, we've seen students wrestle with outdated browsers or sketchy Wi-Fi during important sessions. It's frustrating for everyone.
Our platform runs live collaboration tools, video conferencing, and document sharing. If your setup meets the basics above, you'll be fine. If you're borderline—maybe running a 2016 laptop with 4GB RAM—reach out. We can suggest workarounds or alternatives.
Pro tip: Test your connection during peak evening hours. That's when Australian internet can slow down, and that's when most of our live sessions happen.
Software We Actually Use
Everything happens through your browser. No massive downloads. Our learning management system works best on Chrome or Firefox—they handle video conferencing without hiccups.
For document collaboration, we use standard cloud-based tools. You'll need a free account for those, but we'll walk you through setup during orientation.
Some finance-specific modules use Excel or Google Sheets. If you're an Apple user running Numbers, we'll provide conversion templates so you're not left out.
Meet Verity Lockwood
Verity heads up our tech support. Before joining torenquvia, she spent six years helping small accounting firms migrate to cloud systems. She's dealt with every "my computer won't cooperate" scenario you can imagine.
When students email about technical headaches, Verity's usually the one who replies. She's patient, speaks human instead of IT jargon, and genuinely enjoys fixing problems so you can get back to learning.
"Most issues take five minutes to solve once we know what's happening. Don't suffer through frozen video feeds—just send us a message."
